New film shows service helping people lead healthier, happier lives

by Press Officer on 7 November, 2013

A video has just been released which highlights a new service helping people throughout West Sussex lead happier, healthier lives.

Called the Wellbeing Service it offers information, help and advice to people from all walks of life on ways to improve their lifestyle. The film shows the wide number of ways the service is helping people improve their health and general well being.

Each district and borough council in West Sussex has its own service run in partnership with West Sussex County Council Public Health. The service is run by professionally trained staff. They are there to give the help and support people need to lead a healthier lifestyle.

Encouraging people to take more exercise is one of the key elements the service provides. The video shows all kinds of activities from a bracing walk along the seafront and vigorous exercise session in a gym, to a graceful Tai Chi session in a public park.

The film also highlights how the service offers help to those who want to quit smoking, become more active, eat a balanced diet or find ways to improve their emotional and mental wellbeing.

Christine Field, West Sussex County Council Cabinet Member for Community Wellbeing, said: “I hope the film will help everyone in the community become aware of what this invaluable service has to offer.

“There are many who are already leading happier, healthier lives after making use of the service.”
