Both Adur and Worthing Councils have agreed to pilot a new scheme locally to encourage children to get back to traditional play outdoors in their own streets. The Councils have agreed to pilot six dates in 2013 where residents can apply for a free Road Closure for the purposes of street play on set days over the year:
Temporary Play Streets is an easy and manageable project for small communities to do. An application form and guidance document can be found below and support is being provided for residents, if it is needed, for the first session.
There is also a comprehensive website for residents to use which provides information and helpful tips around planning, consulting and provides templates for leaflets for neighbours, posters etc.
