Stop people with mental illness dying 20 years too soon

by Press Officer on 12 December, 2012

The National Audit of Schizophrenia published today and the results are shocking. Nearly three quarters of people with schizophrenia are missing out on vital support for their physical health. Findings reinforce the concerns of the Schizophrenia Commission, which recently reported on the poor state of physical health for people with severe mental illness.

Please ask your MP to raise this issue now

Today, your Trust will know how well or badly they measure up and should be taking immediate action to improve care. We need to start to reduce the number of people who are dying needlessly each year. Poor physical health and early death should not be an inevitable outcome of experiencing mental illness.

It doesn’t need to be like this.

Ask your MP to raise this issue with your mental health trust. Decision-makers need to know that you care. Working together, we can raise our voices to make sure that things change.

Thank you.

With hope and determination,

Charlotte
